A very special lady....

This is a very special cushion. The lady in this photo, Laurie, is the mum of a very good friend of mine. I am so lucky to still be best friends with my girlfriends from primary school (OMG over 35 yrs now). We have been through break ups, formals, 21st's, weddings, divorces, deaths, kids... the whole bit. The woman in this photo is so special to me, she was so kind to me when I was growing up. I'm talking "Puberty Blues' era. These guys had the best parties in the whole of the manly area. My girlfriend Suzy liked to go to bed early, I was a total night owl, so I would stay up all night flirting with her older brothers friends. Saturday mornings Laurie and I would go and do the saturday morning grocery shopping, while Suzy was still sleeping .... shops used to shut at 12 in those days and I will always remember it. Her health has been declining the last couple of years, bless her, this is my favourite photo of her with her son Tim. It was Laurie's birthday the other day so I asked Suzy to grab this photo so we could make her a cushion...how hot does she look in this bikini on Manly beach, I think early 1980's.....

Happy Birthday Jenny!I am so envious of your senwig skills. Without seeing the rest of your room and the look you are trying to create I would hestitate to recommend either but on it’s own I love the idea of black piping with the blue velvet. I think you have to think in terms of “competition”. Will the sofa have a dominant dramatic role in the room or do you already have that going on somewhere else. The black would definitely draw the eye. I can’t wait to see what you ultimately choose.k
